Laalaa Docs

Codex CLI

Codex CLI defines custom providers in ~/.codex/config.toml.

Base URL for this toolhttps://api.laalaa.me/v1
Protocol/v1/chat/completions (OpenAI)

1. Set the API key

A provider's env_key names the environment variable holding your gateway key.

bash (macOS / Linux)
export LAALAA_API_KEY="sk-xxxxxxxxxxxx"
PowerShell (Windows)
$env:LAALAA_API_KEY = "sk-xxxxxxxxxxxx"

2. Add the provider in config.toml

toml · ~/.codex/config.toml
model = "claude-opus-4-8"
model_provider = "laalaa"

[model_providers.laalaa]
name = "Laalaa Gateway"
base_url = "https://api.laalaa.me/v1"
env_key = "LAALAA_API_KEY"
wire_api = "chat"
  • base_url is the /v1 URL /v1 — Codex appends /chat/completions itself.
  • wire_api = "chat" uses /v1/chat/completions. "responses" also works — the gateway implements /v1/responses.

3. Start Codex

bash
codex "Explain this repository"

Notes

Picking models

Set model = to a real id from the Models page. Profiles ([profiles]) let you switch presets quickly.
